inseperable

foster and lauren
deep in conversation
foster was teaching her about the different parts of the guitar
bridge, string, tuner, neck...oh my neck

i know for a fact that four things in this picture are still around today
my parents
the henricks sign
and the sheep skin rug they are sitting on

school

one of my pet peeves is:
taking a picture of something beautiful / natural
only to be ruined by an unnatural / technology object
case in point: the car in the picture
not that i'm taking a picture of a rolling hill or sunset
after all the building could be newer than the car
but still
it kinda zaps the energy of the object

wash

one of the gems in the barn we live in
i often wonder what this looked like when it was new
and all the things that have been in it

in the middle of the night

i've caught lauren doing two very funny things since we've been married
the most recent happened this morning
it was preceded by many night of sleep in which
i have been awoken by her playing tug-of-war with the covers that were covering me
when i would inquire what the problem was
she would always respond "you stole the covers!"
mind you most of these occurrences were betwixt the hours of 2am - 6am
the exchanges probably weren't that calm or pleasant either

when we get up around the same time
we will usually make the bed together
at which time she'll usually comment on the large percentage
of covers that are on my side of the bed
backing up her theory about me stealing covers

this morning we were up around the same time
i walked into the bathroom to brush my teeth
upon re-entering our bedroom from teeth brushing
i notice lauren with a sneaky and hurried pace
scampering back to her side of the bed from my side
when she looked up and our eyes introduced themselves
she had guilty smeared all over her face
i naturally inquired about the events that took place in my absence
"lauren, (i said) what were you doing?"
"lies-lies-lies-lies-lies" came out of her mouth
this exchange took place several times
each time with more unbelievable lies coming from her
each time with more suspicion in my tone
finally, i pinned her down on the bed and made her look me in the eyes
"what were you doing" i demanded
she laughed out hysterically this broken sentence:
"i was (laugh laugh) putting all the co- (laugh) cove- (laugh)
covers on your side (laugh laugh laugh laugh) so I could
accuse you of (lauuuuuuuugh laugh laugh) stealing them"
at this we both burst into uncontrollable laughter
as we shared one of our favorite moments of the year

i immediately fell even more in love with lauren at that moment
as she lie on the bed so amused by her own trickery

i should've known the coffee was greener

this morning i awoke earlier than normal
to try and fulfill a craving i've been having
for starbucks (i know i know)
i sucessfully got out of the house in time
to go out of my way to the one greg goes to
(i feel special going to that one - sometimes i
imagine him sitting there in a chair - being a student)

now i have been having a conversation with isaac and nathanael
about our dunkin doughnuts experiences
a few weeks ago i happened to be in the neighborhood
of the thorndale DD
i was blown away by the friendliness of the employees
and it immediately made me think of my eagle DD
they are not friendly - no not one bit

and as i walked into the starsbuck (as the chinese have)
and had my first interaction with an employee
i knew i had come to the right place
they were friendly and smiling
and they knew the customer in line in front of me by name
and knew what he was drinking before he ordered
even the gentleman who handed me my
apple bran muffin was delightful
he looked me in the eyes and said have a great day
not the cheesy "i'm getting paid to say this" line
but the heartfelt - you stay classy Cincinnati

if i had any quandaries before
i do not have them now
thank you starsbuck
for starting my day off with a kick

when you take your tripod good things happen

friday night took us to lancaster
with our good friend rick
our night started here at sara's art galla

then we stopped by here
(very trippy - the lights change color)

while we waited for our dinner reservations to clear up
we walked down and marveled at this gem
then murphey's law validated itself

after dinner we stopped by this enchanted courtyard

lauren got abducted by lights in a picture not shown
in this one she was just mesmerized

rick got in trouble with the security guard
(not really)
he didn't collect two hundred dollars
and went straight to jail

we then all agreed on a goofy pose
for some reason lauren and i put on our best thug life

then we grabbed some coffee
right across the street from this beautiful theater
they sure don't make 'em like they used to
(my luck this was built in 2000)

lancaster was never so fun

no geesing

i'm not really sure who enforces these boundaries
they really bother me
what is so special about the other side of that fence
i'm already 20 feet from the water
what's another 20 feet
what in me makes me not cross the line
either way, it made it into my picture
i'd much rather it not be there
i should've just hoped over it
and gone down to the water

pond-0-geese

mid-air

on Saturday we got invited to go see
over a hundred thousand snow geese and tundra swans
our friends who photographed our wedding
ryan and barb galatti picked us up at
the unfamiliar hour of 4:45am
we got up there before sunrise
and got to see these beautiful birds take off
