Brian David McIntire

I met Brian many moons ago
if I had to guess
it was about 4,380 moons ago
unless of course it was a cloudy night

Brian is like a best friend meets brother to me
I like to call it - best-brother

Brian has taught me many many things
probably one of the top 10 most influential people in my life
he has challenged my thinking
musically
politically
personally
religiously
relationally
futuristically
family-ally
there aren't many aspects of my life
actually none that i can think of
that he hasn't affected

but, the most recent
and possibly the most significant affect
he's had on my life
and my daily activity is
e-mail

years ago he hounded me for not checking my e-mail regularly
thanks to him
today i check my e-mail probably 20 times a day
it's boardeline addiction
a few months ago i found out something new about Brain
somehow the topic of filing e-mails into folders came up
and i discovered that he NEVER files e-mails
NEVER
like, none of them
this BLEW my mind
i couldn't think straight
oh the hours i've spent "cleaning out" my inbox
making sure everything was "filed"
and in it's right spot
to think of leaving them all in my inbox
and never even attempting to file them
knocked me off my rocker

thanks to Brian
today i file no e-mails
they all live together
happily in my inbox
never has such harmony been obtained in my e-mail relm
i now count it loss all the hours i spent
filing
clicking "move"
and then checking that folder to make sure it went in the right one
heaven forbid it didn't
and i'd have to use GMAIL's genious "search" feature
which would find the e-mail quicker than me trying to figure out
what folder i put it into anyway

so...here's to you BDM
for changing my life (seriously)
and for changing my email (jokingly, but seriously)

if i had to choose a color that described the mood with which i write this
it would be green and gold
