do not forsake the gathering

recently i feel different about tradition
it feels empty because i either
a. never learned why
b. didn't pay attention

everything: christmas, making the bed, washing your face, brushing your teeth, praying before meals, going to church on sunday mornings, going to church, dressing up, wearing socks, throwing your shirts out due to pit-stains, not wearing your "good" clothes if you might get dirty, keeping your shoes looking like you've never worn them, putting your best foot forward, washing your car, keeping cash on you, voting republican, liking "christians" more than "non-christians," not getting dirty, not giving to people who beg, oh my the list will go on.

i concede to some due to common sense
but others i still have yet to justify

where i fall i cannot forsee
but i do know i will not fall until
i know what i'll land in

so much so that
this looks and sounds more like church to us
than sunday's spent in a building
singing songs that mean nothing
and hearing people voice their opinion (preach)
about a "topic" they like
